When it came time to plan Rowan’s first birthday, I wanted it to feel fun, meaningful, and true to us without the pressure to make it perfect.
We landed on the theme “O-Fish-Ally the Big One”, and it felt right immediately. Playful, sweet, and perfect for celebrating such a big milestone.
Planning the party wasn’t just about picking a theme or decorations, it brought up a lot of emotions for me. Rowan’s first year didn’t go exactly how I imagined it would. There were moments of doubt, plans that shifted, and a lot of learning along the way. As much as I was excited to celebrate him, I was also quietly reflecting on everything it took to get there.
On the day of the party, all of that melted away.

Seeing Rowan surrounded by people who love him, watching him explore, laugh, and enjoy his cake reminded me that the journey doesn’t have to be perfect for the moment to be meaningful. The decorations didn’t matter as much as the joy surrounding us.
That day felt like a win I didn’t even realize I needed.
Rowan turning one wasn’t just a birthday, it was a reminder that growth happens even when the path isn’t what you planned. It was proof that showing up, adapting, and loving your child through every phase is more than enough. I’ll always remember that day not for how it looked, but for how it felt — full of love, gratitude, and pride in how far we’ve come 🤍
Planning Rowan’s first birthday was about keeping things simple, meaningful, and stress-free. These are a few of the items that helped bring the “O-Fish-Ally the Big One” theme together and made the day feel special.
